Terms and Conditions | Lyla Cansfield
📄 Terms and conditions

The small print, kept simple

These are the terms for my online courses and coaching. I've written them in plain English so you know exactly what to expect before you book. If anything isn't clear, just ask.

Last updated: October 2026

The short version

Here are the key points at a glance. Please read the full terms further down before you book, as they form our agreement.

🛡️14-day guarantee

Change your mind within 14 days of registering and I'll give you a full refund. If you pay monthly for the coaching group, you can also cancel at any time after that.

🐴You and your horse

Your horse needs to be sound and healthy, you need to be 18 or over and reasonably fit, and you ride at your own risk.

💻Your course

Everything is online and for your personal use only, so please don't share your login, videos or course materials.

📸Photos and videos

I'll only use photos or videos of you and your horse to promote my courses if you've given me permission.

Got a question before you book? Email me at [email protected] and I'll happily talk it through with you.

1About these terms

I'm Lyla Cansfield, a sole trader, and these terms apply between you and me when you buy or join any of my online courses. That includes:

  • the 90-Day Complete Spooky Horses Course
  • Introduction to Bridleless Riding
  • my weekly online coaching group
  • any other online course I offer in the future

They also apply to my free online courses, apart from the sections on payments and refunds.

When you book, you'll be asked to confirm that you've read and agree to these terms. My privacy policy explains how I look after your personal details.

My courses are for adults only, so you must be 18 or over to book.

You can contact me at [email protected], or by message on +44 7700 146099.

2Your course and what's included

All my courses are delivered online. Depending on the course, this may include video lessons, a private Facebook group, Facebook Live Q&As and recorded video feedback. The booking page for each course sets out exactly what's included.

Coaching

Not every course or package includes coaching. Where it does, the length of the coaching period is stated when you book. All coaching takes place online and can't be swapped for in-person lessons.

It's your responsibility to make the most of your coaching during the time included. Coaching that isn't used during that time can't be carried over or refunded.

Courses that run as a group

Some courses, such as Introduction to Bridleless Riding, run as a group with set start and finish dates. The dates will be shown when you book.

Lifetime access

Where a course includes "lifetime access", this means for the lifetime of the course. If I ever decide to close a course, I'll give you at least 30 days' notice.

I'm always improving my courses, so I may update, add to or reorganise the content from time to time.

3Pausing your coaching

This section applies to the 90-Day Complete Spooky Horses Course only.

Sometimes life gets in the way. If you can't carry on with your coaching because of injury to you or your horse, the weather or another reason, please contact me as soon as possible. I may be able to pause your coaching period, at my discretion.

A pause can last for a maximum of 6 months. Your access to the course carries on as normal during a pause, as it's only your coaching time that's put on hold. Please get in touch when you're ready to start again.

4Payments

The price of each course is the price shown on the booking page when you book. Payments are processed securely through BACS, PayPal, Stripe or Klarna, and I never see or store your card details.

Paying in instalments

Where I offer an instalment plan, it's a way of spreading the cost of the full course price. Outside the 14-day guarantee (see section 5), leaving the course early doesn't cancel the remaining instalments.

If a payment fails

Payments fail from time to time, often because a card has expired or there's a glitch at the bank. If an instalment fails, I'll contact you straight away and ask you to check with your bank and update your payment details if needed. The system will try the payment again within 5 to 10 days.

If the payment keeps failing and I don't hear from you, your access to the course and any remaining coaching will be stopped. I may then take steps to recover the money you owe, which can include the small claims court.

5Refunds and cancelling

My 14-day guarantee: if you decide the course isn't for you, let me know within 14 days of registering and I'll give you a full refund, even if you've already started the course or had coaching.

To cancel, just email [email protected]. I'll refund you within 14 days using the same method you paid with, and cancel any remaining instalments.

After the 14 days have passed, I'm not able to give refunds.

The weekly coaching group

If you pay monthlyThe 14-day guarantee above applies to your first payment. After that, you can cancel at any time by emailing me before your next payment is due. You'll keep access until the end of the month you've paid for. Payments already made aren't refunded.
If you pay for a 12-week block up frontThe 14-day guarantee above applies. After 14 days, I'm not able to give refunds for the rest of the block.

None of this affects your legal rights as a consumer.

6Your horse

By booking, you confirm that your horse is sound, fit, healthy and free from any medical condition that would make training painful or uncomfortable for them. If you have any concerns about your horse's health or fitness, please check with your vet and talk to me before you book.

For courses that include riding, your horse must already be started under saddle.

If your horse has serious behavioural problems, please contact me before booking. Private or in-person coaching may be a better place to start.

7You as a rider

By booking, you confirm that you're 18 or over, physically able and reasonably fit to take part.

For your safety, I may sometimes recommend that you don't ride, or don't try a particular exercise. You know your horse and your situation best, so if something doesn't feel safe on the day, please don't do it.

8Safety equipment

I strongly advise that you use the following. If you choose not to, you do so at your own risk.

  • A properly fitted riding hat that meets a current recognised safety standard and is less than 5 years old from its date of manufacture. It should be worn at all times when riding, and I recommend wearing it whenever you're working with your horse.
  • Suitable footwear with a heel.
  • Tack that fits your horse well and is regularly checked and maintained, so it doesn't break while in use.

9Risk and responsibility

Horses can be unpredictable, and riding and handling horses carries a risk of injury, or worse, to you, your horse and others. By booking, you accept that you take part at your own risk.

As my courses are online, I can't see your horse or your surroundings in real time. You're responsible for deciding whether, when and how to use the training with your own horse, and for keeping yourself, your horse and others safe while you do.

You may be personally responsible for any injury or damage that you or your horse cause to other people, horses or property, so I strongly recommend that you have suitable insurance in place.

I'm not responsible for:

  • losses caused by events outside my reasonable control
  • the results of how you choose to apply the training, with or without my guidance
  • any business losses, or any indirect loss

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes my liability for death or personal injury caused by my negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that can't be limited or excluded by law.

10Changes to your place

Occasionally, I may feel that a course isn't right for you or your horse, for example for safety reasons. If so, I may suggest that you move to a different course or type of coaching, or I may end your place.

If I do this, I'll either transfer what you've paid to a more suitable option or refund the part of your fee for the time and coaching you haven't used. The exception is if I've ended your place because you've broken these terms, for example by sharing course content or behaving unkindly in the group.

11Course content and your login

All the videos, written materials and other content in my courses belong to me. When you join, you can use them for your own personal, non-commercial use with your own horses.

Please don't:

  • share your login with anyone else
  • download, screen record or copy the course content
  • share, sell or post any course content elsewhere, including on social media
  • use the content to teach or coach others

If any of these happen, I may remove your access without a refund.

12The Facebook group

My course groups are a supportive, friendly space where riders can share their ups and downs. To keep it that way:

  • please be kind and respectful to everyone in the group
  • please don't share other members' posts, photos or videos outside the group
  • I may remove posts, or members, that don't fit the spirit of the group

The group runs on Facebook, which is outside my control. If Facebook is unavailable, or I move the group to a different platform, I'll let you know and do my best to keep everything running smoothly.

13Photos and videos

I love seeing your progress, and sharing it can really help other riders. I'll only use photos, videos or screenshots of you or your horse from my courses to promote my work if you've given me permission. You can give permission when you book, or when I ask you about a particular photo or video.

You can change your mind at any time by emailing [email protected], and I'll stop using them in anything new.

I'll never use photos of children, or of anyone who isn't registered on the course, and names will always be hidden to protect your privacy.

14The legal bits

Changes to these terms

I may update these terms from time to time. The date at the top of the page shows when they were last changed. The terms in place when you booked apply to your booking.

Transferring your place

Your place on a course is personal to you, so it can't be transferred to someone else without my agreement.

If part of these terms doesn't apply

If a court decides that any part of these terms isn't valid, the rest will still apply.

If something goes wrong

If you're unhappy with anything, please email me first at [email protected] and I'll do my best to put it right.

Which law applies

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and any dispute will be dealt with by the courts of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring a claim in your local courts.
