It usually goes one of two ways...
You get lucky in the school on a calm day, feel brilliant, then something unexpected happens and you've done no prep and you've got nothing left to steer or stop with. Confidence, gone for you and your horse.
You've seen it done, it looks incredible, but with no clear steps and no one to tell you if your horse is actually ready, it stays on the "one day" list.
I first rode my mare Arielle bridleless well over 20 years ago, back when people told me it was irresponsible and dangerous. What they didn't see was the months of groundwork and repetition behind it, teaching her to listen to my body long before the bridle ever came off.
This year I was honoured to be the Relationship Judge at the British Bridleless Competition, the person with the final say on whether each horse and rider combination was safe enough to go fully bridleless. That's the same eye I'm bringing to this course, so you're not left guessing whether your horse is ready.
Each stage builds on the last, with video lessons for every task so you always know exactly what to work on next.
Can your horse go, stop and turn from your body alone?
Can you both stay confident and connected in movement?
Do you and your horse have basic patterns established?
Can you ride mostly from your seat, with the rope or stick as backup only?
Send me your own footage and get my eyes on you and your horse. Each week I record detailed 'Hot Seat' feedback for every video submitted, so you learn from other riders' sessions as well as your own.
Bring your questions, stuck points and "is this normal" moments to a live call with me every week.
A Facebook community of like-minded riders working through the same stages, share your wins and challenges together as you all progress through the course.
My full Introduction to Liberty course, yours free when you join the Bridleless Riding Course beta. Working with your horse at liberty develops the same confidence and connection we are looking for with bridleless.

You could, and plenty of riders try. It usually means months of trial and error, a lot of guesswork about whether your horse is actually ready, and no one telling you when to stop pushing. As the Relationship Judge at the British Bridleless Competition, checking whether a horse and rider were genuinely safe to go bridleless was literally my job. This course gives you that same structure and that same judgement call, at every stage, instead of finding out the hard way.
A membership keeps charging you every month, whether you're using it or not, and you're often working through generic content that isn't built around this one goal. This is a single payment for a course built specifically to take you from bridle on to bridle optional, with 90 days of live coaching included so you're not left to interpret it alone, and you keep it for good afterwards. No ongoing fee, no losing access if you stop paying.
Stage 1 is designed to show you exactly that, honestly. Maddie, pictured here, was a genuinely challenging horse, and she's proof that some of the safest bridleless combinations I've seen were horses with a difficult past, prepared properly. The framework meets your horse where they are.
If you can already ride confidently in walk, trot and canter with a bridle, you have everything you need to start. This isn't about rebuilding confidence, it's about adding a new skill to what you can already do.
The free Introduction to Liberty course is only included if you join before 13th July. BETA enrolment itself closes on 17th July, after that the course won't be open to join.
It's to build the kind of partnership that makes a bridle optional. Let's build it properly, one stage at a time.
